Summary
Raid 2 is the sequel to the 2018 blockbuster movie Raid. Ajay Devgn reprising his role as the intrepid and upright IRS officer, Amay Patnaik.
The movie is set in 1989, where Amay is posted in Bhoj a rural town in Rajasthan, to carry out his 75th income tax raid.
His subject of interest this time is a notorious and corrupt politician, Dada Manohar Bhai, played by Riteish Deshmukh.
As Amay further investigates the trail of corruption, he faces formidable resistance in terms of threats and violence, as well as being suspended from work.
But with the support system of his wife, Malini (who is played by Vaani Kapoor), he perseveres to set the guilty parties free.
With suspense, drama, and incidents inspired by actual events, the movie weaves a gripping yarn of courage and truth.
Strong Points—
Ajay Devgn’s On-Point Acting:
Ajay Devgn excels again as the straight-talking officer. His serene intensity and piercing delivery propel the movie and make his own character credible and inspiring.
Realistic Plot:
The film gets tense well and shows a realistic image of bureaucratic struggles and political corruption. The raid sequences are particularly riveting.
Great Supporting Cast:
Riteish Deshmukh is adequately menacing and charming as a villain. Vaani Kapoor brings depth as a supportive, tough partner.
Weak Points:
Unnecessary Songs:
Some songs, such as item songs “Nasha” and “Money Money,” come across as unwarranted and break the gravity of the storyline.
They were avoidable in the interest of a better experience.
A Slower Second Half:
The second half is slightly slow and some scenes of this part are stretched longer as compared to the first half of the movie.
This undermines the overall tempo and intensity.
Conclusion—
Raid 2 is a solid and deserving sequel that remains faithful to the essence of the original.
It provides an interesting blend of suspense, drama, and nationalism, supported by a stellar performance by Ajay Devgn.Though it has weaknesses — most notably, the extraneous songs and a nominally too long second half — it manages to present an entertaining tale of integrity and justice.
The socially oriented thriller genre fans and Ajay Devgn fans who like to see him perform in serious roles will enjoy Raid 2.
