On 16, December 1983 Rane was born in a Hindu family at Rajahmundry (Andhra Pradesh). Even though he was born in Andhra Pradesh but he completed his education at Gwalior (Madhya Pradesh).

His father Vivek Rane (Maharashtrian) was a doctor and his mother Swarnalekha Rane is a housewife. His sister Rohini is an MBA topper and now works in Mumbai.
Harshvardhan joined Shaheed Bhagat Singh College but dropped out in middle and join Barry John acting classes.
After this, he started his theatre career and also worked in a film branding enterprise as a freelancer.
After some time he moved to Mumbai where he get his first show “Left-right right”. This show was aired from 10, July 2006 to 26 September 2008 on Sab TV.

He also added that he would love to work with Sanjay Leela Bhansali in his next film.
