On 16, December 1983 Rane was born in a Hindu family at Rajahmundry (Andhra Pradesh). Even though he was born in Andhra Pradesh but he completed his education at Gwalior (Madhya Pradesh).

His father Vivek Rane (Maharashtrian) was a doctor and his mother Swarnalekha Rane is a housewife. His sister Rohini is an MBA topper and now works in Mumbai.
Education
Harshvardhan joined Shaheed Bhagat Singh College but dropped out in middle and join Barry John acting classes.
After this, he started his theatre career and also worked in a film branding enterprise as a freelancer.
Acting career
After some time he moved to Mumbai where he get his first show “Left-right right”. This show was aired from 10, July 2006 to 26 September 2008 on Sab TV.
Harshvardhan acted in several films like Fida (Indian), Maya (Telugu), Paltan (Indian), Brother of bommali (Telugu).
Bollywood famous director Sanjay Leela Bhansali also approach him for the role of Deepika’s brother in the movie Raam Leela. But he rejected this because of the long contract (11 months).
When he asked about this, he said that he has no regret for not accepting the role in Ram Leela because at that time he don’t want to do a negative role.
He also added that he would love to work with Sanjay Leela Bhansali in his next film.
However, he started his acting career in 2006 but the turning point of his life was the movie “Sanam Teri Kasam”(Released on 5 September 2016). This movie gave him a lot of fan following.
Although the movie was not big hit audiences (especially girls) loved him in this movie.

But after dating for nearly one year they parted because of some personal issues. They unfollowed each other on social media and even deleted their pictures of each other.
When asked to Rane about his breakup with Kim he said in a joking way that; “Breakup is in his DNA”.
Kim Sharma was also a Bollywood actress and we saw her in the movie Mohabbatein. As she was not getting any big opportunities in Bollywood so, she left the movie industry in 2010.
Before Rane, she married a Kenya-based Indian businessman Ali Punjabi but later divorced. She was also in a long-term relationship with Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh. But because of some differences, they separated.
