Drishyan (2015)
Bringing first in the list, Nishikant Kamat directed ‘Drishyam’ is one of the excellent thriller movies of this decade. It is a remake of a Malayalam movie ‘Drishyam’.
The movie produced by more than one producer– Kumar Mangat Pathak, Ajit Andhare, and Abhishek Pathak.
The movie gained so much appreciation for its extraordinary combination of various actors like Ajay Devgn, Tabu, Shriya Saran, Ishita Dutta, and Mrunal Jadhav.
The story wrote by Jeethu Joseph. The film was released on 31 July 2015 and got a superb response from the audience.
The film starts with a scene where Vijay ( Ajay Devgn ) sits outside the newly constructed police station.
After this, the film goes to a flashback where a huge case was going on. It was about the investigation of the murder of Sameer, who is the son of Meera Deshmukh (a policewoman i.e. IGP ).
In this case, police were suspecting Vijay’s family. Although they couldn’t find any evidence against Vijay’s family, nevertheless there is something that was so fishy in the whole story.
The twist in the story is where everyone is trying to prove something different and someone wrong. But in the climax, you’ll be surprised after knowing about the real murderer.
However, I am so eager to tell anyone about the outstanding story of the film. But I don’t want to mess up the suspense of the story, The special feature which this film has, is ‘keeping the audience so curious at every point of the movie.
Kahaani (2012)
The second in the list is ‘Kahaani’ in the direction of Sujoy Ghosh. It is another most notable thriller initiative, created by various Bollywood and Tollywood persons altogether.
The film stars Vidya Balan as the lead as it is based on a female character.
And beside her, there are so many eminent actors like Parambrata Chatterjee, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Indraneil Sengupta, Saswata Chatterjee, Abir Chatterjee, Dhritiman Chatterjee, Shantilal Mukherjee, Kharaj Mukherjee.
The story is about a woman who is expecting a baby. She comes to Kolkata to find her husband after covering a huge distance from London.
She claims that her husband is missing and last time, he came to Kolkata on an assignment under the National Data Centre (NDC).
After the initial investigation, they couldn’t find any records. But they get to know her husband was not an employee of the NDC at all. Despite this, Vidya continues her research about her husband.
In this journey, so many unpredictable incidents happen in her life and some unexpected truths come out.
The whole story displayed excellently to the audience that no one can shift their mind from the movie to anywhere. You just can’t take any break till the mystery is unsolved.
Andhadhun (2018)- Shocking plot twists movie in Bollywood
One of the most versatile actor in the current industry, Ayushmann Khurrana acted ‘Andhadhun’ is a outstanding crime thriller, directed by Sriram Raghavan. This film is released on 5 October, 2018 and get a great response, just like the other films of Khurrana always get.
The film have Ayushmann Khurrana, Tabu, and Radhika Apte as the main lead. Each one of them has already proved their tremendous acting skill through their other famous works.
So, from the beginning, the audience kept a huge expectation from the trio in this film which is fulfilled by them with so much perfection.
The story is about a blind piano player whose life is going without any complications. Everything in his life is well organized and even he is also in a relationship.
But suddenly his life takes a turn in a very unexpected way. Because directly or indirectly, he became a witness to the murder of a former film actor.
But wait, he is blind! Right? Then how can he witness of a murder?
So, this is the twist in the film. Because so many theories come where you will be compelled to think that ‘Whether he is blind or not?’
But you can get the answer to your valuable question, after watching the complete movie only. It is wonderful to work with lots of jump scares.
The movie won several renowned awards like Best Director, Best Screenplay, Five Filmfare Awards, three National Film Awards.
Karthik Calling Karthilk (2010)
Vijay Lalwani directed ‘Karthik Calling Karthik’ is a great story as a suspense thriller.
This film is produced by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani. Farhan Akhtar also played the lead role in the film and, there is Deepika Padukone, Vivan Bhatena, Ram Kapoor, Shefali Shah, and Vipin Sharma.
Releasing on 26 February, 2010, this film got a mixed response from the audience but I think it has a unique suspense story in it. Despite this mixed response, people loved the songs of the movie, which is composed by the talented trio Shnaksr-Ehsaan-Loy.
The film is about an introvert guy Karthik, who lives a very disturbed life in which he can’t make any progress neither in his professional nor in his personal life. But the twist comes in the story when he gets a call from an anonymous person.
I know that, this is not something very surprising unless it is mentioned that the caller has the same voice like him and his name is also Karthik. The unknown caller tells him that he can make him a successful person if he follow his (caller) every advice.
In the middle of the film, audiences get to know something very unpredictable truths when the actual mystery solved out. The truth is something beyond everyone’s expectations.
‘Who is the anonymous caller?’, ‘How the caller’s voice and name can be the same as Karthik?’ and ‘Why does anyone want to help Karthik in this strange way?’
In the full movie, viewers try to figure out the answers which make to stick on the seat.
Badla (2019)- Bollywood movie with shocking plot twist
Sujoy Ghosh’s other masterpiece ‘Badla’ is a thriller and murder mystery which was produced by more than one producer Gauri Khan, Sunir Kheterpal, Gaurav Verma, Akshai Puri respectively.
It is based on a crime and revenge drama. It is the remake of Spanish mystery thriller film ‘The Invisible Guest’ by Oriol Paulo.
The story is about a young entrepreneur, Naina Sethi. Naina was at the peak of her business career. Someone blackmailed her by revealing her secret affair and tell her to come to a resort room.
But someone attacked him and she finds herself in the room with the dead body of her secret lover Arjun (played by Tony Luke). When the police get to know this, they arrest Naina as the main suspect.
From the beginning, Naina tries to prove herself innocent. To defend herself, Naina hires a Lawyer, Badal Gupta. And then her lawyer, Badal Gupta finds the whole truth by having a conversation with her.
In this ongoing conversation, he gets to know that who is the actual murderer in the case though there is so many twists in the movie.
The film features some proficient actors of the industry like Amitabh Bachchan, Taapsee Pannu, Amrita Singh, Tony Luke, and Manav Kaul.
Table No. 21 (2013)
Aditya Datt directed ‘Table No. 21’ is a thriller drama released on 4 January, 2013.
The story of the film, written by Abhijeet Deshpande is so unique and with a reality check of the current problem around ragging in colleges.
The film is produced by Sunil Lulla and Viki Rajani. The film does not have so many famous star cast except Paresh Rawal. Rajeev Khandelwal, Tina Desai are the two characters which story is centered around.
And Dhruv Ganesh played a small yet important character in the movie.
The film starts with a married couple’s boring life. But it gets a little bit interesting when the couple gets a proposal for participating in a game where they can win a very huge and exciting monetary prize.
They participate in the game where Mr. Khan (Paresh Rawal) is the host.
At the beginning of the game, it was quite enjoyable but gradually the game becomes so dangerous that survival is also next to impossible.
Not only the game will make you so invested in the film, but the twist of an unknown past relation of the characters will make you shocked in the end.
Gupt: The Hidden Truth (1997)
Rajiv Rai directed ‘Gupt’ is a thriller film of 90s which follows a different trend at that time. Because then, Bollywood had the trend of typical romantic movies. But despite that, this film didn’t get so bad response from the audience.
The film stars Bobby Deol, Manisha Koirala, Kajol, and Om Puri. The film was released on 4 July, 1997. It was the first film of Bobby Deol and Manisha Koirala together and also last.
Here, Sahil is arrested in the case of the murder of his stepfather, although he is so determined to prove himself innocent.
But all the circumstances opposed him in every single situation. However, he escaped from Jail to find evidence for him. Although it is the beginning part of the film and after this, you will find the actual twist in the film.
From the old days Bollywood Industry, you can choose among these to add to your watch-list and prepare your mind to be twisted.
